May 24th, 2023. Not a driving reference, but I couldn’t think of a better phrase that describes the last five weeks then this one from the incomparable voice of American ring announcer for boxing, Michael Buffer. During this short time I have had 12 doctors appointments (urologists, nutritionist & oncologists), a cystoscopy, a surgery on my bladder, a kidney biopsy, an MRI, a CT scan, appointments with a social worker, what feels like a gallon of blood drawn and oh a root canal, because why not. Seriously, I haven’t been to the doctor this much in 50 years!
Even with all this craziness, the last few weeks have been amazing! Spending time with friends and family has never felt so good. I have tried to squeeze in as much of my summer as I could in the last couple of weeks. From car shows, to the Brimfield fair, to hanging out with friends and family. It’s been amazing. I am so grateful for everyone around me who are doing everything to make this journey easier. For those not around me, send cookies…lots of cookies. (Kidding of course 😜)

But this is what life is going to be like for a little bit now and that’s ok. Fighting the fact that I have Cancer won’t do anyone any good. I don’t have to like it, but I accept it and will do what I have to do. It’s not my preferred way to spend the summer for sure
We don’t always get the opportunity to choose our path, but we do get to choose how we walk it. I am going to walk this one with gratitude, confidence, perseverance and a lot of humor!
