Ups and Downs

The last two days after surgery have been filled with a few ups and lots of downs. The good news are the ups are all tied to my recovery. Everything in surgery went well and recovery is proceeding at or better than they expected so that’s been great. The bad is that this is hard, really f@“@@!?n hard. Not even running a marathon hard but pretty much harder than everything I have done together on my life. The mental and physical toll is just amazing. The last two days were real rough, from site pain to ancillary pain on shoulders and arms from being strapped down during surgery. From having to cough, acid reflux and hiccuping to a new treat my body seems to like which is raising my external (not core temperature ) what feels like 100 degrees in seconds when pain comes on. Also it’s just plain upsetting. My body looks so different right now and feels even worse. Had a few emotional moments but realize that I only have to push through it. So grateful to have Aimee’s support. She has been here every possible moment. I can’t tell you how good that feels. I am very lucky and in love.

No fun. Also the lack of sleep hasn’t helped. Spent most of yesterday sleeping although I did get up and walk a handful of times which was good.

Today I am feeling much better. Got about three hours of solid sleep which is the best I’ve had. Planning on getting up soon to talk a walk and then to begin my daily activities of learning life with my new bladder.

More on that to come but just don’t have the energy just yet to share. thanks again for reading and the support. Love you all. Today is going to be a great day.
